28 - It Takes Time

this is yet another chapter that applies to my life man!
whee-u-wheet.
i mean really. there's always this part of me that wants to grow faster.
and maybe it's a little bad, cos ive neglected that i must at the same time, grow steady that i can have firm roots to keep me in place in times of spiritual dryness and times of temptation.

because ultimately, God would really want to prepare us well for eternity. :)
that's a very refreshing and motivating thought... :)

the fact that yes, we are slow learners is hard to grasp.
i mean who would like to think of themselves as slow learners? we'd prefer to sit in denial - that we are NOT slow learners, instead, we are fast learners. we are quick witted and smart. so there, that's one thing i learned - weakness in putting down pride.

i used to being like praised a smart kid, or rather, ive grown used to adults praising my intellect. there was a period of time(that was like when i was really young) that i was so into doing things to please adults and from there, i try to fish for compliments. but now, as i look back and think about it, i laugh because really, intelligence is a gift. and no matter how much people can comment, ultimately i need to know my strengths, believe that all these abilities are really, gifts from Gods that He has bestowed onto us, that we may learn to use these gifts wisely and contribute to His kingdom.

plus, we have so many habits to get rid off.
for me, i have to stop thinking of boys in the notsogood light. im sorry guys haha. but im learning yah!
for me, i have to keep check on my bursts of frustration and irritation.
for me, i have really so many things to keep in view.
though i think im generally ok, but i know, somehow, im still far from being Christlike, who is perfect.
but i shant be consumed in my own pace and guilt and worry about why im so slow because as the bible says, "Everything on earth has its own time and its own season." :)

and yes, never shall i forget that God ever promised -
"These things i plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!" - Habakkuk 2:3 (LB)
-(from the book)"God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time. :))

27 - Defeating Temptation.

Sad that blogger.com is not workin. And the page doesn’t load.:(
read rick warren’s this morning, thinking that I would be home late. =]
in the end decided to forgo the mini-gathering for aunty gang to stay home, rest and plan some things!
Especially how I should go about my quiet time. What bibles I would like to get heh.

Actually I pretty like this chapter on how to defeat temptation and yepsRick warren has some really fresh ideas, like:
When we’re tempted, we should –

1) refocus our attention on something else – instead of dwelling on our temptation. Forgetting about it is actually must better than thinking about it. Because when you give up that thought, Satan cannot do anything! LAUGH! Ahaha!

2) Reveal the struggle to a friend or support group – I think this verse makes a lot of sense: “You are better off to have a friend than to be all alone…. If you fall, your friend can help you up. But if you fall without having a friend nearby, you are really in trouble.”

3) RESIST the big big devil! And I actually do agree that we shouldn’t argue with that devil because he’s been trained for like what, a few milleniums. So there, no point!

4) Realise and understand our vulnerability! For me, I figured out that that devil that’s under my feet usually picks on me when im having my time of the month. Times like these I will feel easily irritated and lethargic. And he just comes in to pick on my emotions making me feel like shit! Go away u!!

I really like this chapter!: )
