it's a long chapter, and there's so much for me to say.
but due to my fatigue, i think it'd be wiser for me to reflect tomorrow (:
one point to note, it's a great chapter which spurred me on again (:.
tmr shall come, real soon (:
________________________________________________________
just did a 5k jog (: in 40 minutes. i know that's super oober slow. ;p
coming with this chapter of what drives your life, comes a lot of confessions.
Warren listed the top 5 reasons that drives people in their lives, and at the same time, offer 5 other benefits of leading a purpose-driven life (:
frankly, to confess, i dont know what's my driving force, really.
kinda just wanna give my best shot in everything, starting from this moment, that is.
jc life was a flop, i feel so ashamed of myself sometimes. ok, that's potentially an overstatement.
in any case, yeps.
i guess my past is part of me, but i shan't let it control me yes (:
that's what i learnt from the book- "We are products of our past, but we don't have to be prisoners of it."
i'd confess that, i grew up driven by resentment and anger.
but im not too sure if i should say, it's a driving force in my life. i mean, i dont live to resent my dad for his mistakes, as how i'd perceived it. i think that's a sin. but ive outgrown that thinking because, with half a step into the complex adult world, i realised there are so many things that arent much within our control.
and well yeah, God planned all these to happen, i suppose...
still, good came out of me. i learnt to forgive (though i still cant bring myself to really like my stepmother, due to our distant relationship perhaps. im not even close to my dad for that matter.) and look on in life.
shrugs.
i think many people now are driven my material satisfaction. shrugs.
i see some of my friends not minding all the stress and unhappiness that may stem from work, but because the pay is good, they dont mind. and there comes this twinging feeling.
so what would be the case when we're really working and earning the bucks??
i can feel myself being pressurised to earn more in the future. i hope i can pull through that and i trust that Jesus will help push the temptation away from me(though it can be a challenge itself ;p) (:
yup, and i do think that another whole bunch of people are driven by the need for approval.
i mean, doesnt this link to the previous reason?
i believe there's a link between seeking approval from material success.
i mean, with the media influence extravaganza rooting in the base of every society,
the end product is always competition to look "ideal".
i confess im guilty of that. and the very fact that media power has shaped our ideal of a perfect bod,
many people fall into the trap of pursuing the ideal bod endlessly.. so that there's the public approval of oneself.
im guilty but im not obsessed lah. i admit...
sigh. societal pressures are such strong powerful invisible driving force, really.
anyway, i must remember that "the one key to failure is to try to please everyone."
and Jesus once said, "No one can serve two masters."
i will learn to trust God, and be prepared to focus my life.
bring back the focus to a new level and give it a new life. (:
honest reflections. *
